aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1921\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"false\"><p>Prospective master\u2019s students that the GISE aims to recruit are those who have obtained a bachelor\u2019s degree. There are two ways to apply for the program. One is through recommendation and screening, and the other is through a general admission process. The former includes a review of application documents and an oral test; the latter requires taking a written examination. Once admitted, the students will be able to enroll in science education specialized courses, including (1) Science and Society, (2) Cognition and Science Learning, (3) Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and (4) Digital Learning. In order to help the students obtain thorough knowledge in science education research area, the students are required to take research methodology courses offered by the institute as well as science courses offered by the College of Science. According to the program requirements, the students can apply for the graduate degree exam upon a successful presentation of thesis proposal. The goal of this comprehensive design of the program requirements is to develop the student\u2019s professional knowledge and competencies in excellent science teaching, foster the student\u2019s science teaching in elementary, secondary, and vocational schools, as well as cultivate the student\u2019s interdisciplinary understanding to meet the need of talents in education fields. Our alumni who completed the master\u2019s program typically work in elementary or secondary schools and public or private organizations. They can also choose to pursue a higher degree.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-tab-title elementor-tab-mobile-title\" aria-selected=\"false\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tab\" tabindex=\"-1\" aria-controls=\"elementor-tab-content-1922\" aria-expanded=\"false\">Doctoral Program<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<div id=\"elementor-tab-content-1922\" class=\"elementor-tab-content elementor-clearfix\" data-tab=\"2\" role=\"tabpanel\" aria-labelledby=\"elementor-tab-title-1922\" tabindex=\"0\" hidden=\"hidden\"><p>Prospective doctoral students that the GISE aims to recruit are those who have obtained a master\u2019s degree in the fields of natural science, engineering, medical science, and agricultural science. The admission is through a review of application documents and an oral test. Once admitted, the students will be able to enroll in science education specialized courses, including (1) Science and Society, (2) Cognition and Science Learning, (3) Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and (4) Digital Learning. In order to help the students obtain thorough knowledge in science education research, the students are required to take research methodology courses offered by the institute as well as science courses offered by the College of Science. In order to foster and develop the students\u2019 research competencies, their ability in teaching science and science education courses at the university, and their knowledge of general education in mathematics and science, prior the graduate degree exam, the students should have: (1) attended international conferences overseas, (2) published journal articles and conference papers, (3) passed the English proficiency test, (4) at least one-year work experience that is relevant to science and\/or mathematics education, (5) passed the candidacy examination, and 6) given the presentation of dissertation proposal that is open to the public. Our alumni who completed the doctoral program typically work at public or private universities, research institutions, and secondary schools. Furthermore, the GISE master\u2019s students can apply for direct admission to the doctoral program. The admission process includes a review of application documents and an oral
